Prince is a KCPP longtimer, he came in as a stray when he was around one year old and has been in and out of the shelter for the past two years.
Breed: Pit Bull
Age: 3 y/o
Weight: 55-65 lbs.
Color: Black w White
Good with dogs: No
Good with cats: No
Because of his length of stay, Prince has been on sleepovers and dog day's out to get a feel for his personality and becomes a new dog outside the shelter. The stress of the shelter is showing, and it's very hard for Prince to connect with adoptive parents in the stressful shelter. Once he's relaxed he's full of kisses and so much more open! See his video here: https://youtu.be/U1zIPLwMYuQ
Living Situation: Prince is currently waiting for his forever home in the shelter. He would benefit greatly from a foster home and if you're interested please contact the Kansas City Pet Project!
Personality: Prince is a silly, goofy pit mix. He is not in foster currently, but would love the opportunity. He has a lot of energy for chasing toys and fetch, but also is content to lay at your feet. Our guess is he would be a great jogging partner, but also a great snuggler too! This boy gives great kisses. Because of his time in the shelter Prince can be a little timid at new noises or smells! Once you give him some time to get adjusted this boy is confident and goofy as ever. We didn't get to hear Prince's bark on his dog day out, he didn't even bark when other dogs passed by us.
Behavior with people: Prince loves to meet new people! He loves to say hello and get pets from people who he meets. He isn't fearful of men. Unknown behavior with children, but he has higher energy and would do well in a home with no children or older children. He doesn't jump when meeting new people, and will gently take treats which makes for a nice introduction!
Behavior with other dogs/pets: Prince wants to be your one and only, and what more could you want? He's so handsome and has got all the energy and personality you could ask for.
Training: Assistance with training is available through the KCPP. Prince is housebroken and is working on obedience training! He knows "sit" and "down" and will happily do both for treats, he is very motivated by food. He is responsive and eager to please! He is strong on the leash at the shelter, but calms down and is easier once he is away. With positive reinforcement and consistent leash training he will be an easy walker!
Best Attribute: Prince is a huge lover. Once you know how long he's been at the shelter you cant help but understand why he is so aloof and distant. But the most rewarding feeling is the pitty smile and all the kisses he has for you once he realizes he's free!
