Before applying for a dog, please take a moment to review our Adoption Information & Procedures

Some of the dogs in our program are adopted before we get to know them. Some stay longer but require several weeks to show their character. Some dogs receive additional evaluations and training by professionals if needed.

We work hard to provide as much information as possible, but the process is not perfect. Our goal is to give the dogs the best chance to stay in their home for the rest of their lives so we are genuine regarding what we know about them. For MPR, quality of our placements takes precedence over a quick turnaround.

We do our very best to update the dogs' bios as quickly as we can. In some cases, dogs are adopted before we are able to revise their listing.

Please do not contact MPR via email or messenger to inquire about a dog’s personality and/or temperament, compatibility with other pets, etc. The volunteers in charge of replying to general requests are not the same as those handling and evaluating the dogs. They will not be able to answer your questions.

Missouri Pit Bull Rescue makes no express or implied warranty, representation or promise to the age, health, breed, habits, disposition, behaviors, obedience, or safety of the dogs in our program. Our assessments are subjective and based on information we receive when selecting the dogs for our program, as well as observations and reports from our volunteers and caretakers. Adopters understand that no one can predict how a dog will act or react under all circumstances and situations.

Background Info:

Baymax joined the MPR program from the city shelter. He was relinquished after an altercation broke out between he and another dog in his prior home. Baymax had been attacked by this dog and was injured in the altercation. The other dog walked away with only a few scratches. Baymax was treated and did most of his recovery at the city shelter. He's been soaking up lots of love and TLC since joiing the MPR family.

Adoption Fee: 150
Breed: Pit Bull/AmBull
Sex: Male
Age: 4-6 yrs
Weight: 70-80 lbs

Health Condition:

Baymax is healthy and ready for adoption! He has healed from his injuries and his foster parents apply coconut oil to his nose, chest, & neck areas to help him with healing and re-growing hair.

Physical Description:

Baymax is a huge hunk of love! He has a white coat with adorable grey markings and grey ears. He has sweet soulful eyes that will absolutely make you fall in love!

Current Living Situation:

Baymax is fostered in a home with access to a medium sized backyard enclosed by a 4-foot fence. There are three adults and two other pets in the home. While Baymax is doing well with the 5 year old female Staffy, he has not been introduced to the 2-3 year old male Pit Bull mix. Foster parents are practicing a crate and rotate structure for the dogs.

Baymax stays in his own room overnight and when home alone. He is also crate trained and enjoys leisurely using his crate - it seems to be comforting to him!

He enjoys going on daily walks, but usually likes to keep them to about 20 minutes before he resumes his naptime.

Baymax is a happy and outgoing dog with a goofy personality! He is easy-going, responsive, and very eager to please! He has a medium energy level, but his favorite past time is snuggling! He does enjoy playing with his toys in small increments before going right back in for cuddles.

Baymax makes an adorable woo-ing noise when he's excited! He will also snore and make happy little grunts while looking at you. His little sounds are incredibly endearing!

He seems to really enjoy going for car rides, and has been a fantastic passenger!

Behavior with people:

Baymax has never met a stranger, only people that he hasn't loved yet. He's a cuddle bug and enjoys greeting people with kisses. He can sometimes get overly excited when meeting new people, but is working on keeping all four paws on the ground.

Behavior with children:

Baymax has not been exposed to young children while in his foster home, so his behavior is unknown. He has been around older teenagers and done well in those interactions!

Behavior with other dogs:

Baymax has been getting along with the female dog in his foster home. Foster parents were sure to slowly introduce the two. There are 4 neighbor dogs on the other side of the fence in the yard that Baymax seems interested by. He likes to sniff and wag his tail when they are out at the same time. When he sees another dog while out on a walk, he gets a slight pep in his step and wags his tail like he wants to make a new friend.

While we can not guarantee his behavior with other dogs, we believe he could live with a compatible female in his forever home. Slow and intentional introductions facilitated by breed-savvy owners would be necessary. He would also do well as an only pet.

Behavior with other animals:

While on walks, Baymax notices squirrels & birds, but does not seem to pull in that direction. He has not shown strong signs of prey drive.

We believe he lived with a cat in his previous home that he got along with, but he has not had exposure to any cats in his foster home, so his exact behavior is unknown.

Baymax appears to be house broken, and is crate trained. He also knows commands such as kennel, place, sit, and wait. He is very eager to please!

Best Attribute:

Baymax is an incredibly handsome boy with the cutest facial markings! Aside from his looks, his best attributes are probably his easy-going personality and his love for cuddles! He doesn't demand much, he just wants love!
