On December 14, 1914, the students of Baylor voted to have a bear represent the University as mascot. The Baylor Bears refers to the sports teams of Baylor University.
Baylor was one of 7 pups that MPR rescued from KCPP. He was in a small kennel in giant warehouse with 100-150 barking dogs surrounding him. He looked very sad and unsure, almost depressed. We were very glad to get him out of there!

Baylor is adjusting well to foster life. He has a four-legged foster sister that he is super friendly with. He licks her face and gives her kisses every chance he has. Baylor enjoys his time in the fenced in back yard, he is quite good at fetch. He already knows the sit command. He is kind of all over the place on walks!! He is real looker and gets lots of attention when he is out. We are working on his leash manners, but he is very obedient and easy to redirect. He definitely respects the word NO and always gives the sad puppy dog eyes when he knows I am not happy with him about something. It makes it very hard to discipline him, he's such a sweetheart! Baylor is getting used to his kennel, he whines a little when he first goes in, but he settles down quickly.
Baylor is an absolute doll!! He is pretty quiet and reserved, not hyper at all for a dog his age. He likes to play with his toys and chew on his bones, but doesn't hyper focus on either. You can tell that he is anxious to play with his foster sister and he is very much a shadow dog, always at your side. I haven't found much he is reactive too. The barking German Shepard next door does not faze him; he simply ignores her. He has very good manners. He does not jump up on people, and waits to be invited onto furniture. He is very calm and seems happiest when he is with others.
BEHAVIOR WITH ADULTS:
Baylor is awesome with everyone he has met. He is very friendly but not in a pushy way. He will dole out many kisses if you let him.
BEHAVIOR WITH CHILDREN:
Unknown, he has only been around adults since being in foster care.
BEHAVIOR WITH OTHER DOGS:
He has not shown any dominance or unfavorable behavior around his foster sister. They are still getting to know each other so their time together has been limited.
BEHAVIOR WITH CATS AND /OR OTHER ANIMALS: Unknown
We are still working on housebreaking with Baylor. He has only had a couple of accidents in the house and he is very receptive to correction. He goes right to "business" when he is outside. He is very eager to please, you can just tell he wants to do whatever you want him to do. He does not seem to be very food oriented, but that could change as he gets more comfortable with his new home. He takes treats so gently!!!
It has to be his laid back personality. He is so calm and submissive that he is a joy no matter what we are doing. He also has one MASSIVE head, which seems to throw him off balance sometimes, making him somewhat of a comical goof when trying to jump on furniture, walk on hardwood floors, or do stairs. Poor baby forgets he has that big old head and bumps it into things a lot. Puppies!! This boy is going to be a dream dog for some lucky family. He has looks, charm, and a sweetness that is irresistible.
