RJ Raccoon
RJ Raccoon, commonly known as RJ, is a raccoon and the leader of the Forager Animals. Somewhere in the Rocky Mountains of Chesterton, Indiana, RJ was, in his words, a family of one, foraging for food.
Background Info:
RJ was surrendered to the city pound by his family. They were moving and couldn't take the dogs with them. They also got rid of the little Chihuahua who lived with them. In addition to the small dog, RJ shared his previous home with 4 children.
We named him RJ due to his resemblance to a racoon and how smart and clever he is.
Health Condition:
RJ is healthy and ready for adoption.
Physical Description:
Smaller than average for a male. He weighs a little less than 45 Lbs. He's super cute with his racoon markings, his large perky ears and big brown eyes.
Current Living Situation:
RJ is fostered in an apartment in the city with a single woman and her roommate. He shares his foster home with a small Doxie but they haven't been introduced yet. There are no yard in his foster home so RJ goes on leash walks with his foster mom every day. He is discovering the city and learning about all the noises and traffic. It seems like a new experience for him and he is still a little overwhelmed but learning to relax.
Personality:
He's a sweet little guy with some insecurities. He has a sensitive soul and you can easily hurt his feelings. His level of energy appears low as of now, but we believe it's only because he needs a little time to adapt to his new life. He's definitely not a spazz though.
Behavior with people:
RJ is a bit on the submissive side with people and unsure at first. It takes him a little bit of time to warm up but he's sweet and friendly. Just reserved. We believe he is still very heartbroken by the loss of his family, so hesitant to give his heart to someone new yet. He's probably thinking they will come back for him and he wants to remain loyal to them. That said, foster mom tells us that he is slowly opening up to her and seeking a connection.
Behavior with children:
We were told he lived with four children ages 4 to 14 - And did very well with them. In fact, the owners claimed that he did better with the kids than the Chihuahua did. That's all we know. There are no children in his current foster home.
Behavior with other dogs:
He shared a home with a Chihuahua who apparently ran the show. His foster mom plans on introducing him to her roommate's Dachshund soon and we will update his bio when we have more info.
