Misty Blue
Background Info:
Misty Blue was brought to the city shelter by a good Samaritan that saw her wandering the streets. She was a tiny bit underweight and a little shy at first but warmed up quickly once she realized she didn't have to be afraid – making her a great candidate for our program!
Adoption Fee: $200
Breed: Pit Bull
Sex: Female
Age: 1-3 years old
Weight: 30-40 lbs
Health Condition:
Misty is healthy and available for adoption.
Physical Description:
This blue beauty is a petite little thing. She’s the perfect ‘pocket pittie’ 😊 Just the right size to fit in your lap!
Living Situation:
Misty is fostered in a home with a fenced in yard that she shares with an adult male pit bull mix. They are slowly being introduced, practicing the “Crate and Rotate” method. While her foster brother is getting playtime outside of his kennel, she is in her kennel in a bedroom. She doesn't challenge this routine and accepts her kennel as her comfy den. Her foster mom says Misty has had optimal positive reactions to her foster brother and she is looking forward to letting them play together.
Personality:
Miss Misty is a happy and easy-going young dog. She is well-balanced with a medium energy level. Foster mom says she is silly without being over the top and understands when it’s time to stop playing and calm down. Misty is eager to please and always up for anything – whether it’s cuddle time or yard work, she’s ready to be right there with you.
Behavior with people:
A bit shy at first but she warms up quickly – especially to women. Misty is a little slower and more cautious when approaching new men, but as soon as they show her that they love her, she puts her guard down and she’s all cuddles.
Note from foster mom: “Misty is young in her play style with humans - she loves to get your attention and be chased around the house. She is always up for a game of fetch or tug-of-war and she is no stranger to zoomies. On the other hand, she is a huge snuggle bug and is a professional blanket thief, with special attention to a heated blanket or heating pad, if you have one. Her foster mom works from home right now and she is a great office-mate; calmly listening in on Zoom meetings and looking forward to lunchtime walks.”
Behavior with children:
Unknown. Misty has not been around kiddos that we’re aware of. But given her playfulness and petite size, we think she would enjoy a home with kids.
Behavior with other dogs:
Based on her reaction so far toward the adult male in her foster home, we think Misty would like a home with a compatible male playmate.
Behavior with other animals:
Misty has a low prey-drive. She has not shown any interested in squirrels or other animals while out on walks. Note that she has not been around any cats.
Training:
Misty is crated when home alone and at night for bed. Her foster mom says that she is housebroken. Misty is very food-motivated and has easily learned basic commands.
Best Attribute:
Misty’s foster mom says she is as easy as they come! Misty Blue is the perfect puppy-ish age – young enough to be trained and learn how to fit into your lifestyle, but old enough that she’s out of the pesky puppy phase.
Note from foster mom: “This girl is precious! She's so cuddly and sweet and then she'll surprise you with her silly playfulness. I know she'll be the perfect fit for an active family with a dog brother and maybe some kiddos to throw the ball for her. She is a great medium size and has all the best pit bull personality quirks. I can't wait to find Misty her furever home!
