Michelangelo was found as a stray and brought in to the city shelter. He was never claimed. The name "Michelangelo" came to mind because he looks like a mutant turtle. You have to meet him in person to see just how irresistible he is.

Adoption Fee: $ 200
Breed: Pit Bull
Sex: Male
Age: 2-4 yrs
Weight: 50-60 lbs
Health Condition:

Mikey battled skin issues when he was first rescued, most likely caused by neglect and stress. In just a few weeks, his skin looks a ton better. His coat is recovering its shine and softness. He is still a little thin, but gaining nicely.

Physical Description:

Foster mom describes him as a Pitbull mutant mix, low rider muscle man. He looks like the manufacturer ran out of leg material, lol! He is otherwise normal, except for the short legs that don’t fit the rest of his body. His funny appearance only adds to his charm. He's such an endearing little mutant.

Current Living Situation:

Michelangelo is fostered in a home with 2 adults and a 6-year-old female Pit Bull. There's a large yard with a privacy fence in his foster home. Mikey is crated at night and when home alone.

Personality:

Michelangelo is well-balanced, easy-going and easy to handle. He loves balls and toys but can be a little possessive. Foster parents are working on it. He is learning that good things won't be hard to come by in his life anymore, so he can relax and not be so uptight. His foster parents are currently practicing the "No free Lunch" program with him to help establish leadership.

Behavior with people:

Michelangelo enjoys affection and attention and can even be a little needy. Again, he might have been neglected before so he cant get enough lovin' now. He will follow you all over the house while doing chores. We promise you'll never have to make a lonely trip to the bathroom ever again with this one!

Michelangelo sometimes acts a little entitled when visitors come over but his foster family is working on socialization. Please keep in mind that he could be a little protective of "his" mom.

Behavior with children:

No kids! Since he is shows signs of resource guarding, as well as protectiveness, we believe he would do better in a home with adults only.

Behavior with other dogs:

Mic met some dogs while at the city shelter and was described as stiff and dominant with other males and "annoying" to females, especially prior to being fixed.

He now does well with the female pittie in his foster home after they were slowly introduced. His foster companion is calm, collected, and somewhat submissive.

Please keep in mind that Mic is a little possessive when it comes to toys and food and might not want to share attention very well. He would do awesome as an only pet but we will not rule out a home with a compatible female if owners are well experienced. He does love his foster sister.

Behavior with other animals:

Michelangelo is very interested in small animals during his walks. A home with a cat is not recommended.

Training:

Michelangelo likes being crated in the same room as everyone else when sleeping at night. He was not fond of the crate at first, but has shown much improvement. He’s potty trained and does well on walks.

Best Attribute:

We can't begin to tell you how cute this dog is in person. Pictures don't do much for him. His charm and silly little legs are irresistible. He's one you have to meet in person to appreciate.
