Background Info:

Jelly Roll is another neglected stray of unknown background who landed at the city pound in bad shape and was never claimed. We don't have any info on what happened to her, but we promised her that her life will be much better from now on.

Adoption Fee: $ 200
Breed: American Bully
Sex: Female
Age: 2-5 yrs
Weight: 40-50 lbs
Health Condition:

Jelly is overall healthy but came to the rescue in bad shape, especially her skin. She appears to have been infested with skin parasites, most likely fleas and chiggers, and it did a bad number to her coat. She is nicely recovering and currently going through a regimen of antibiotics and medicated bathes. We expect her coat to be healthy and shiny within a few months.

Jelly has some minor seasonal allergies that are kept under control with daily apoquel when needed.

Physical Description:

Pictures do not do this girl justice at all. She is so much cuter in person. She looks pittish when photographed, but in reality she has the cutest little Bulldog face with a short snoot and blocky head. Jelly is smaller than a Pit Bull and has adorable short little legs.

Current Living Situation:

Jelly loves to be with us at MPR shelter. Even if it isn't a home with a family, we are certain it is much better than what she had before. She enjoys every minute of it.

Jelly is currently learning how to use her doggy-door to relieve herself in the outside run, and discovering what a comfy bed is all about. She is still very unsure of what to do with all the comfort but is soaking it up. We can only imagine how thrilled she will be when she finally finds a caring home.

UPDATE: Jelly was recently transferred to a foster home (August 2021), with a single woman, no kids and no other pets. Update coming soon.

Personality:

Such a lovely little lady. Jelly is happy-go-lucky and easy-going. Pretty easy to handle and eager to connect with her caretakers. Her energy level is low to moderate. Her personality is outgoing, responsive, and loving. She's a real gem, very happy to be given a chance to learn how to be a well-behaved indoor companion.

Behavior with people:

She loves everyone! She's comfortable with strangers and does her best to be totally irresistible. She can be a little mouthy but its her way to establish a connection and try to bond with loved-ones. She is responsive to correction and learning that "kisses are ok, but no teeth please." She has a soft mouth so its not a big deal but she does require a little bit of work in that regard.

Behavior with children:

Unknown.

Behavior with other dogs:

Unknown. At the shelter, she doesn't seem phased or even interested in the dogs kenneled next to her. While she doesn't go out of her way to create conflicts, we don't think she is longing to make doggy-friends either. She would probably prefer being an only pet. After all, this girl deserves to be spoiled!

Behavior with other animals:

Unknown

Training:

She has very little training from what we can tell, but in her short time with us Jelly has already learned to sit. She is treat motivated. House breaking is in progress and going very well.

This little sweetheart has what it takes to make a wonderful, easy, and affectionate companion for someone. She loves to play too! She is overall low maintenance and easy to please. We don't think such a treasure will be with us very long. Don't miss your chance!

Even if you can’t adopt this sweetheart, you can still help by donating for their care.
