Daffodil
The daffodil symbolizes new beginnings. It's one of the first flowers to bloom at the end of winter, announcing spring, and signifying the end of cold, dark days. Daffodils are a symbol of creativity, energy, resilience, forgiveness, and vitality.
Background Info:
This gem was found roaming the streets by animal control and taken to the local shelter. She is the sweetest girl. We are absolutely baffled that nobody came to claim her! We know we’ll find a deserving family that will be more than happy to give her a home.
Adoption Fee: $175
Breed: Pit Bull Mix
Sex: Female
Age: 2-4 yrs
Weight: 40-50 lbs
Health Condition:
Daffodil is healing some fur and skin irritations but is improving every day! Otherwise, she’s healthy and ready to be adopted. We can’t wait until her gorgeous fawn tricolor coat is in a full gold and bronze glow!
Physical Description:
The first thing you’ll notice about this dog is her sweet smile! What can we say, Daffodil smiles nonstop at all her adoring humans 😊 She has a medium size build (a bit on the stockier side), with the most beautifully colored liver coat. She is just so precious! Daff likes to sit at your feet or cuddle next to you and smile at you for hours, locking-in your attention with her endearing eyes.
Current Living Situation:
Daffodil resides at the MPR shelter where she is slowly opening up and becoming more playful. She chats with her neighbors occasionally, but otherwise she’s well behaved in her kennel.
Daffodil likes to nap on her bed outside when it is not too hot, or she can be found "making biscuits" as she dreams away on her inside bunkbed. She is patient and so well-behaved.
She was very happy to discover that her accommodation came with a pool! This happy gal jumped right in during her photo shoot and would happily reside there permanently if we let her. 😂
Personality:
Daffodil’s personality matches the lovely smile on her face. She just loves to love! She is soooo appreciative of getting good care and attention. This girl never has a bad day and it’s impossible for you to have one either when she’s around.
A bit more on the submissive side, she is gentle and docile and very easy to handle. A sensitive sweetheart who only wants to love and please her loved-ones.
While she might like a short bout of zoomies in the yard, her level of energy is moderate and her exercise requirement easy to meet. She might even make a good apartment dog as she is not picky of the environment she lives in and very easy to please. That said, she’s also a total water dog! 💦 She loves to hang out in the kiddie pool at the shelter during a hot summer day. We think she would be a great lake dog!
Behavior with people:
Outgoing, affectionate and friendly with everyone, though a little timid with some. She’s always polite when meeting new people and greets everyone with a gentle wag and the sweetest smile. Her endearing personality is impossible to resist. She is a real little doll with a soft nature and very loving disposition.
During her time out of her kennel at the shelter, you can find Daff snuggled up on the daybed with a volunteer or wherever her human is at the time is 😉 She waits patiently at your feet for acknowledgement, smiling from ear to ear.
Behavior with children:
Unknown. We have not seen her interact with children, but she hasn't shown any concerning behavior with people. That said, she is a sensitive sweetheart so for her sake, we prefer a home with older, respectful children who know how to treat a dog with love and care.
Behavior with other dogs:
Daffodil was briefly introduced to other dogs during her short stay at the city pound and the results were guarded. She didn't display strong signs of aggression but didn't behave warm & fuzzy either. She is the kind of dog who might be able to share a home with a compatible companion after an adequate introduction period and under proper supervision and management.
Daffodil is not a candidate for dog-parks and we do think she would shine as an only pet.
Behavior with other animals:
Unknown, but she hasn’t shown much of a prey-drive while she’s out on a walk.
Training:
Daff keeps a very clean kennel and goes outside to do her business. She’s very responsive and has already mastered “sit” and “come.” We think she would do great with more training and could even graduate as valedictorian of her class!
Best Attribute:
Daffodil’s smile is hands down the most charming thing about her. She’s a huge favorite at the shelter and we are all trying our best not to scoop her up ourselves! Hurry to apply to adopt, she won’t be here long!
One volunteer said, “Daffodil is such a lover! I always look forward to her turn out because she is so happy and loving and truly appreciative of any attention and affection that she is offered. You can tell this dog is so grateful to have landed in our program and out of the city shelter and the streets.”
